Villia, I have to admit there are parts of Courtoise I would like to steal for my own cats!!! As Russian Blue of the English type she is lovely (read great!!) Laughing Laughing Laughing And as a Chartreux (in dutch Karthuizer) she must be near to perfectl!!!
lol!

Regards,

Anke

To be more precise, I love her short wedge, her thick short coat, lovely flat scull and her almond looking eyes. At this age she even her body would be great (hahahaha) I know she will become more firm, like a Chartreux should be.

Vilia,

You are forgiven Wink As I said, there are similarities between Chartreux and British Short Hair breeds.
Here is a picture: Right Top = male Chartreux and Bottom Left = male British SH. They are quite different! British SH are very round!

I have 2 Chartreux cats: Beauregard (called Beau) 18 month male neutered and his niece Courtoise, 7 month female who will give me babies in the future.
And because I fell in love with Nebelung when I saw them last May, I have decided to have one for company Smile

Anke,

If I understood well what Dutch breeders have told me, Dutch Chartreux breeders call them Chartreux and now Karthuizer refer mainly to British SH. http://www.lechatquirit.nl/

I know she will become more firm, like a Chartreux should be

I was talking by MSN with the above Dutch chartreux breeders and we had quite a laugh! Remember, a judge said that a Chartreux was a potatoe on toothpicks. Well for the time being, their (Coeur de) Marie has the potatoe part down to a pat and Courtoise has the toothpick part right! Ha ha ha

Your Chartreux are beautiful.
I have never seen one in the flesh but they look a lot like my housecat Lola but her brightgreen eyes give her away. Her mother was a tabby cat so Dad must have had some Chartreux blood.

Quite different though from a Nebelung/Russian Blue in build. Our neb Bink is much leaner and higher on his feet. Lola is coarser built and has enourmous feet with claws in which no mouse shall live to see the end of the day. It is the difference between a ballet dancer and a sumo wrestler.

As I understood British Shorthairs have been in the past crossbred with exotic/persian cats. This gives them their more stompy nose than the Chartreux. This is link to a nice website about all kinds of grey cats http://home.wanadoo.nl/ekievit/. The Nebelung is missing though.

Marleen,

Your Lola is really lovely!!!! Her father might have been a natural chartreux! Yes, Chartreux is a natural breed and you can still find some of them outside. Smile

Regularly in the morning I could hear Beau meowing and I did not understand why. Well I discovered the reason today. He is protesting because Courtoise is sitting in the bathroom basin and does not want to leave!!!!! Nevertheless he does manage to get rid of her. Therefore Courtoise had to find a new sleeping place.

Have pity ladies and gents - Courtoise the homeless!!! LOL
Mdrrrr

Last Saturday we were visiting my parents. Beau immediately noticed the bouquet! Courtoise followed her uncle.

Let's see....
- Voyons voir....

While Beau is directly eating some plants, Courtoise goes around....

Beau is looking for another flower...
- Beau se cherche une autre fleur....

Ahhhhh! A Rose! Let's eat a petal!

That rose is high! Let's see if there is not something less tiring to eat. Ahhhh! That one looks perrrrrrrrrrrfect!
- Pfff ! Ahhhhhh ! Celle-là a l'air paaaaaaarfaite Smile

Mmmmm. This flower is realy delicious!!
- Miammm.

There's nothing like a small botanic snack!

We left before Beau could finish eating the whole bouquet! Laughing
Mdrrrrr

News of the Christmas Tree. Though the tree is very very small, it is still in perfect condition!!! Beau has more or less ignored it this year (maybe due to the false snow) and Courtoise will not go near it as she is scared of the garland!!!!!! Laughing Laughing
MDRRRR

However Courtoise did find the box where we keep all the wrapping papers, small decoration items, ribons, etc... absolutely fascinating!!!!

She managed to steal one item

or two....
- ou deux...

under the benevolent look of Beau
- sous le regard bénévolent de Beau

Sleeping duet

Post  laurence on Fri Jan 04, 2008 6:51 am

When one wants, one can!!! Not having a tree at my parents', my 2 cats did find a way to sleep together.... despite a fair amount of body parts hanging outside! Laughing

Mdrrrr
