Seminar about the Nebelung and Russian blue/ the Netherlands
On 15 March is a seminar about the Russian blue/ white/ black and the Nebelung and the breedingstandard. So all the different types of Russian blue will be presented and discussed by judges (judges to be) and breeders. I do think it's realy intresting as the exterior of the breed will be discussed.
It's organised by the NOK ( the dutch independent judges organisation).

Seminar about the Nebelung and Russian blue/ the Netherlands
Sounds wonderful, wish I could be there!!
Where exactly is it? Is there a website one can look at for info?
You be sure to post this on as many
lists that you can, so that as many breeders know, as it is always good to watch
something like this as everyone can learn more about Russians of all colors and Nebs
whether they agree with the breeds or not!

The semenar is in Eemnes, close to Utrecht. If you want to participate you can enrole via the website of the NOK (dutch independent judges society) by the Danuta Looije (link www.nokk.nl]
On the website is not much info. But I guess that many photos will be made. So after I'll try pass some of the info to you.
We are lucky to have active unions for Russian blue and Nebelung!!!

If you 'd like to visit the seminar of the NOK. You can still enrole for this. This meeting is at the 15 of March in Eemnes the Netherlands.
The topic is the standard of the Russian blue (the american and the english type) and the Nebelung (represented by Ozar and Pegusha).

Re: Seminar about the Nebelung and Russian blue/ the Netherlands
I added some photos of the Nebelung to the slideshow of the seminar
The seminar was very intresting. It was not only the Russian blue and the Nebelung, but also the Abi/ Somali.
For me one of the main learning points was that (personaly) I'm always looking to improve the coat of my cats and trying to get a perfect one. But then you get the question: what is perfect? How much can your coat get the looks of the russian blue coat?
Seeing the abi / somali made me realise that the difference will always be there. The coat of a perfect somali has a totaly different look etc than the coat of a Abi.
To see the connection between those two groups of cats (abi/som) was also great. I do think that continuation of our breedingprograms, with the love we have for the russian blue will be most fruitful.
With the russians it's ofcourse (luckely) a good rehersal of what I have learned during the years. It would have been bad if this was not the case. Expecially with the kitten photos you can see some of the main points of focus that are pointed out with her hands.
The flat scull (this often still has to come with a kitten), the good convex curve, the wide earbase (otherwise you get a rabit or donkey look), the eyes should be wide placed (one of the kittens has them too close together), but not too wide (then you get a more american russian blue look, and it was about english type of russian blue) The same is with the eyes they should not be to small (the same kitten) but also not to big.
The kater (= boy) has a chin that could be stronger. (She did not mention this with Ozar, but he has the same thing. His chin could bestronger..... or his nose a bit shorter)
It's hard to give a good summary, maybe Kirsten has some things to add.

Anke
