Wassenaar 23 november 2008
This is going to be a première for me. With my Turkish Angora Aygul (Ullie) I will visit the show in Wassenaar on the 23th of november. There will be a Turkish Cat special. Together she only once did a show when she was a kitten together with her nest. Now 1,5 years on we will see if we both will enjoy that experience.
Is there anyone else that will visit this show?

Re: Wassenaar 23 november 2008
Hi all,
Well it had it's ups and downs in Wassenaar. I tried to make some pictures with my telephone but they are not very good, sorry for that.
It was early in the morning when we had to leave home. Although we had some practice drives in the car, it was very long for Ullie. So she was already upset when we arrived. And she was not very enthusiastic about meeting other cats. All day she was growling if she cached a glimp of one of her neighbours and the rest of the time she was sitting a bit depressed in her cage. Bach Rescue did not help.
She did quite okay with the judge although she was very shy and afraid. The judge said she should have more profile, bigger ears and more elegance, but her coat, eyes, condition and body were okay. So she got her CAC. The judge said she was not show-material and CAC was the best she could get. There are two schools of thought; the American type of TUA which is more elegant and the European type of TUA which is a bit more stocky with less profile. Ullie is one of the last type and the judge preferred the American type.
Well, her breeder was more upset about her judge report than I. I generally do lack any ambition on that part, I like my cat anyhow even if she would have been purple with orange spots.
On judges preferences here is another one. BOB of semi-longhaired cats and nominated for BOA became a black smoke Turkish Angora Cesar de la Perle d' Antalya from France. They entered him several times in shows in France where he did not do very good. In France the judges have a strong preference for the solid white types but in Wassenaar he took away almost all the prizes.
There was one Nebelung on the show. Ladoga's Tsaar Saltan, owner Sabine van Workum-Wolgast. (Brother of Rasjah of William) It got U1 and BIS.
All in all it was nice to meet and see a lot of other Turkish Angora's and Turkish Van's and their breeders. And a friend came by to give some moral support. Ullie hated the whole experience and I found out that showing is not my cup of tea either, so we are not going to repeat it. The next show for me will be as a visitor.

Hi Marleen
Sorry to hear that Ullie did not like it.
Very nice to hear that Rasjah's brother made it to BIS, would have loved to see him again but i am glad we didn't go because of the snow.

Hi Marleen,
Thanks for your beautiful show report. But I can understand that you prevere the report of our "star feline reporter in the wild".
Catshows are not every cats "cup of thee".
I hope your friend is at ease again at home!!

Yes, she is herself again. Something nice to eat and lots of cuddles and attention do a lot for Ullie. You live and learn all the time.
