Favorite toy
Here is a picture of Bink with his favorite toy. When he first came to live with us I took him to the vet for a checkup. The vet gave him a small kitten-welcome box (blije doos for us Dutch). In it was a little toy with a bell and elastic. He was absolutly crasy about it and nothing could rival with the toy. But in time he lost interest in it.
Visiting the show in Utrecht I saw the same toy and bought it. Since sunday he has done little else than play with it. All day long I can hear the little bell ringing. If I find it and he is not around and I ring the bell, he comes running to play. It is amazing that he recognises the thing.
How much fun you can have for € 1,50! My Turkish Angora is even cheaper to please. She is in love with aluminium foil balls.

Re: Favorite toy
I must have placed this item in the wrong topic. How do I move this to the photocorner?

Hi Marleen,
I think that the admin and moderators are the only ones who can move topics. It's not much work and most topics are published in the right categorie.

Re: Favorite toy
What a marvelous photo!!!!!! Bink is WAUW!!!!
I realy wish to meet him in real live next year!!!
My cats have all different favorite toys. With the boy I often play with a mouse (toy) on a rope. The rope is long and I throw and pull the rope.
Pegusha and Nisa like to play with paperballs.
Laksmi loves a laserlight
And all of them love feathers on a stick . Especially the ones with two feathers on a rope the that move alsmost like a bird. (can't find a picture).
Besides these kind of toy they love the cat towers michel makes.

Re: Favorite toy
Thanks,
I was wondering about toys. What toys do your cats like?
I'm always looking for new and funny toys. For this reason I realy love shows they always have something new. And I have also seen some great "do it yourself" toys in a magazine. These were made to stimulate the inteligence of your cat. There were puzzles and toys made of egg-carry-cartons.

Our kitties like what is called a Turbo Scratcher, it is a round plastic disk with corregated
cardboard in the center. The outside of the disk has a track where a ball is located.
We put dry catnip in the cardboard center and the cats go nuts scratching at it and batting
the ball around and around the outside track. I will send a photo to Anke as I have not figured
out how to upload photos to this forum We like these better than those plain cardboard
scratchers as the plastic base is heavy enough that adult cats can use it as it doesn't move
around on the carpets when being used. All of our kittens grow up using it and we always
recommend it to kitten buyers.
Once the center cardboard is all scratched up and flat, you can buy replacements for pretty cheap,
and start all over again. I replaced the cardboard in one the other day and added some catnip.
and my old Neb spay, Romani Princess Lea, who is 12 years I believe, just went nuts playing with
the thing, unfortunately, she went nuts at about 3am and it is in my bedroom, so she woke me up,
but it was worth it to see her playing like a kitten again, drunk on catnip , she loved it and has played with it for several days!

Re: Favorite toy
Funnily enough, my 2 cats could not care less about catnip
Ha! I have this game at home!!!! I got it when Beau was about 5 month old. The cardboard in the middle is only used as a "sit"! And Beau played with it only to try to get the ball out. Once he succeeded, he lost complete interest Courtoise did not show much interest in it either.
There is another similar game which Courtoise likes to play with sometimes. I'll put a picture of it when I am home, together with their favorite toys.

My cats LOVE catnip, even when they are kittens! And despite us having about 5 of these Turbo scratchers
around, none of our cats have ever gotten the ball out--LOL--your cats must have strong paws!
Again, just before dawn this morning, Lea was playing with the ball in the track, I may have to move that one out of the bedroom so I can sleep!!
Nice to see Bink, he was such a cute kitten and has turned out to be a handsome boy!!
And, I love the photos of the cats climbing that tower, very cute, and the last photo, darling!

Re: Favorite toy
Here's the similar game, I was talking about earlier. Beau showed very little interest but Courtoise likes it
Here's a game Beau liked very much until he destroyed it because he was more or less laying on it..... I have not tried it with Courtoise yet. It's very cheap: tissue box where you create other holes big enough so they can put their paws in it and of course, you put a mouse inside!
I have recycled broken feather sticks! My cats love it!!!!
But you know the best toy ever!!!! A carton box!

Re: Favorite toy
Oh I could see where he could get the ball out of that one toy, the ones in the Turbo Charger
are set in and more difficult to get out.
And I agree, a good box is the most fun or a paper sack, they love to jump into paper sacks too!

Re: Favorite toy
All my cats have different preferences with toys.
Big old Lola has recently grown very fond of my husbands' Ipod-headset. When she gets hold of it, she is gnawing away at the earpieces and sometimes we can find her walking around with it like a prey. You could hide it but she will do everything to find it.
It could be that she is very fond of music but she could just as easily be jealous of it because it gets my husbands' attention. His miniature sailboat got the same treatment. She bit some ropes and now the mast has come down.
All the time she has a look on her face like "Well, am I not the most wonderful cat in the world? Surely you will let me get away with it." with her paws massaging and her face tilted sideways.

Re: Favorite toy
No, no, Vicki, he did get the ball out of the other game! He was VERY determined.Oh I could see where he could get the ball out of that one toy
Marleen, very funny! I can just picture her face
For those whose cats like to play with foil boils, be carefull. I know some cats who developed slight irritation of their gum because of it!
Re: Favorite toy
What fine the toys! I want to play with them.
But Veronica, likes to run, and all to gnaw, gnaw and jump. ,

Re: Favorite toy
I know that Romani Princess Lea of HanoHano is just going nuts for that turbo charger,
and she is age 12!! Always at about 3am unfortunately
She also always liked to bring toys to her babies, she would find a toy mouse and
call her kittens and bring them the toy, well, she still does that despite her being
spayed for 5-6 years now, she goes around the room with a mouse calling and calling babies,
I tell her, Lea, there are no babies, but she is still looking for them to bring them toy mouses!!
Lea was a good momma!!

Re: Favorite toy
I bring this topic back up again after almost two years.
Yesterday I found a similar toy at the catshow in Utrecht. The old ones got lost and forgotten over the years. I offered it to Bink and he is happy all over again. He clearly recognises that specific toy after a very long time!
He is growling and defending his prey, dragging it al over the place, so I had to make a picture.
Edit, he has just hidden the toy in my wastepaper basket under my desk and pulled it over to find it again.

Re: Favorite toy
Nice to hear that your trip to Utrecht also had some advantages for Bink.
My cats are also always playing. And it is a good topic to be renewed again, just like Bink his toy.

Favorite toy of Enzo is his featherstick, without any doubt! Dino likes to play with everything, aspecially with Enzo
Re: Favorite toy
Friday I made some photos of a friend at her house
Her cats were totally fond of my camera bag. They really tried to fit into it. .... It was really funny....
I realised that the magical mice of Marleen had been in the bag. Even without the mice the bag still has it's magic.
It was obviously the most favorite toy.
