Instincts

Post  Damijan Kamensek on Mon Mar 22, 2010 3:34 am

Inspired by the thread in the category "Studs" about birds and Nebs I´ld like to ask You about Your experiences of the, like Anke wrote, "natural instincts of hunting".

We the two birds, wich are usually in the cage, and also a hamster, but sometimes our kids are so ...may I say "silly"(?) or better "muddle-headed", that they forget to close the doors of the cages. So it happened more than onca, that one or another of the animals came out of their cages and were found by the cats.
But, oh surprise, _our_ cats are no godless killer-machines. They sit in front of their victims and are too afraid to tap them. Well, that´s ok for the birds and the hamster and the kids, but what´s wrong with the cats? Do You have similar experiences?

Here´s one more of Gloria. She tries somtimes to catch the fish through the glass :

When there is a flying thing i.e. an insect at home, my cats do not see me anymore... I just become a ladder to reach that litlle beast to play with and eat.

I do not have any other animal at home. I think it might play a big part.

My Chartreux become 100% crazy hunters Shocked My Beau caught 2 sparrows who happened to fly in the balcony. He did not eat them though. I believe Dwimordene would try to catch it to play with.

Ups, You´re right, Laurence, I forgot those insects. When there are any at home, the cats go crazy.
@ all: please, don´t understand me wrong. There´s no real problem for me, tat they ar no killers, but it seems to me, that especially the nebs are peaceful.

Non, les Neb ne sont pas pacifiques. Ils sont chasseurs comme tout les chats. Ils sont juste très doux avec leur humain.
Nebs are peace lovers. Like all cats, they are hunders. They are very sweet with their humans.

Bink is definitely a killer. He normally is very placid and tender to his human. But not so if you are a mouse, bird or mole. He brings presents for us, even in our bed. I am glad I am not as small as a mouse.... affraid
