Attend a cat show [ starter questions ]
Well as a starter and a loving owner of the Nebelung I have a few questions about cat show.
I found out that you need to fill in a form { http://www.neocat.nl/printversies/Inschrijf-printversie-Engels.doc }
How do you fill in a form like that ? ( It would be nice if someone uploads his / her form for example )
But is it for neocat subscribers only or is it for other intrested people too ?
How much does it cost to attend a show ?
What kind of preparations for a show are needed ?
It would be nice to setup some starter information.
Greetings !
Richard

Re: Attend a cat show [ starter questions ]
Dear Richard,
The way cat shows are organized differs from one society to the other and between countries. So to give a clear set of information is impossible.
First: Which organizations are in your country?
google at show agenda and you will get a good idea, or ask a local breeder
Do they recognize the Nebelung? Not every cat society recognizes the Nebelung yet.
If yes -> just fill in the form. At most site’s you can find information about filling in the form or mail/ call the society. You will find very helpful people there.
If not -> try another society or (for the diehards) try to get the breed recognized. The last option is a lot of work but it really helps the breed.
It’s best to a visit a show before you try to attend. (Find a comparable concept; Tica differs to the independent shows in the Netherlands and both a different then e.g the Fife) Then you can see how it works. Some shows you have to bring your own cat to the judge, at other a steward will and at others the judge will visit your cage.
Also take a look at the dressing of the cages. What are the sizes, colors etc. How to make or where to buy/ rent them? And look at the way other people present their cats. (Don’t look at the Persians- this is not representable for most of the breeds).
There are also great website’s with “how to show” information. And when you have a Nebelung breeder in your area, I would try to attend a show they go to. I’m sure they will help you around.
I hope this info helps you a bit. And as you live in the Netherlands……. Just call!!!
Regards,
Anke

Information about getting the Nebelung recognized, if your organization doesn’t recognize the breed, I cannt’t give. But Bernard (LOOF in France) - Anne-Marie (ACFA- Canada) and Teresa (UK) can tell interested breeders more about this.
