Introduction
L’origine du Russe est très discutée.D’après la théorie la plus vraisemblable, il viendrait des îles Archangel, dans la mer de Barents où, avant d’être apprécié comme chat de compagnie, il était chassé pour sa fourrure chaude et imperméable. Le Nebelung est la version à poils mi-longs du Russe. Timides, ce sont des chats qui apprécient d’être manipulés avec délicatesse lors des jugements.

Tête : Les contours de la tête sont formés par sept faces planes qui sont :
- du dessus du crâne jusqu’au front ;
- du front jusqu’au bout du nez, qui de profil forme une ligne droite ;
- du bout du nez jusqu’à la pointe du menton ;
- deux faces symétriques de chaque côté du museau ;
- deux faces symétriques formées par les pommettes larges et hautes.
Triangulaire quand elle est vue de face, la tête est particulièrement large au niveau des yeux.
Museau : Le museau, plutôt court et sans pinch, prolonge le triangle de la tête. Les coins légèrement relevés de sa bouche lui donnent une expression douce, comme souriante.
Yeux : En forme de noix, les yeux sont assez grands et bien espacés l’un de l’autre. La couleur est du vert le plus intense possible chez les adultes.
Oreilles : Aussi hautes que larges à la base, elles sont espacées de la largeur d’une oreille. Recouvertes de poils courts et fins à l’extérieur, elles sont fournies de poils plus longs sur la moitié de la surface intérieure.
Encolure : Longue et fine, l’encolure apparaît plus lourde qu’elle ne l’est en réalité en raison de la densité de la fourrure.
Corps : De format foreign, le corps est long et élégant. Bien musclé et sans aucune lourdeur, il peut paraître plus robuste qu’il ne l’est en réalité, en raison de la densité de la fourrure, surtout chez le Nebelung. L’ossature est fine et la musculature puissante.
Pattes : Longues et fines, les pattes sont en proportion avec le corps.
Pieds : Petits et relativement ronds. Queue : Plutôt épaisse à la base, la queue est de longueur moyenne, allant jusqu’à la base des omoplates.

Russe : La queue va en s’affinant jusqu’à une extrémité effilée.
Nebelung : La queue est bien fournie.

Robe :
Russe : Courte, fine et douce, la robe est double et dense en raison de l’importance de son sous-poil. Nebelung : de longueur moyenne, la fourrure est composée d’un sous-poil assez fin recouvert d’un poil de garde plus épais. Les mâles ont souvent une belle collerette qui est plus discrète chez les femelles. Des pantalons sont souhaitables ainsi que de légers « lynx tips » (plumets) à l’arrière des oreilles.

Couleur :
Bleu : robe d’un bleu uniforme et lumineux, avec une préférence pour les tonalités claires. L’extrémité des poils de garde présente une coloration argentée qui donne à la fourrure un aspect brillant, comme saupoudré d’argent. La truffe est gris charbon et les coussinets lilas foncé.
Blanc : robe blanche avec des reflets argentés. La truffe et les coussinets sont roses.
Noir : robe brillante noir de jais jusqu’à la racine. La truffe et les coussinets sont noirs ou brun foncé.
Tolérances La couleur des yeux est jaune-vert chez les chatons. Des marques tabby fantômes sont tolérées chez les chatons. Des anneaux peuvent subsister assez longtemps à l’extrémité de la queue.
Nebelung : La longueur de la fourrure et la densité du sous-poil varient avec les saisons et une robe nettement plus courte en été ne doit pas être pénalisée en jugement.

Introduction
The origins of the Russian are subject to discussions. According to the most realistic theory, Russians came from Archangel islands, Barents sea where, before being loved as a pet, they were hunted for their warm and waterproof fur. Nebelung is the long hair version of the Russian. Shy, these cats like being handled with care during judging.

HEAD:
The outlines of the head are formed by 7 flat shapes which are:

BODY
Foreign shape, the body is long and elegant. Well muscled and without any heaviness, it can appear more sturdy than it truly is, because of the density of the fur, especially with the Nebelung. The bone structure is slender and musculature powerfull (strong).

LEGS:
Long and slender, the legs are in proportion with the body.

PAWS
Small and relatively round.

TAIL
Rather wide at the base, the tail is middle long, going to the base of the should blades.

Russian: the tail is sliming down to a sharpened end.
Nebelung: the tail is thick (lush) with hair

COAT:
Russian: Short, thin and soft, the coat is doubled and dense due to the importance of its undercoat.
Nebelung : middle length, the fur is made of a quite thin undercoatcovered by thicker hair Males often have a beautiful ruff which is a lot more discrete for the females. Breeches are desirable as well as light lynx tips (angel hair) at the back of the ears.


COLOUR:
BLUE: Even and luminous blue with a preference for light blue. A distinct silvery sheen (hairs tipped with silver). Nose-leather is charcoal grey and paw-pads are dark lilac.

WHITE: white fur with silvery sheen. Nose-leather and paw-pads are pink.
BLACK: shiny very dark black sound to the roots. Nose-leather and paw-pads are black or dark brown.

INDULGENCE
Eye colour is yellow-green for kittenS. Ghost tabby marks are tolerated for kitten. Rings at the end of the tail can stay a long time.
Nebelung: the length of the fair and the density of the undercoat differ according to the seasons. A definitively shorter fur in summer must not be penalised.

PENALTIES : not quite green eyes for adults

Whoa, nice, I hope it is a final, accepted version?
The RB/NB standard in TICA used to be the same except for
coat but the RB breeders here complained and the NB breeders
were forced to change the NB standard away from the original.
We have very angry, very controlling RB breeders over here!!

Unfortunately, I don't know French and Dutch. Google translator does not give good translation (usually it is very hard to understand the meaning). I wish it could be translated into English.
