Hello catlovers,

Hi, I am Marleen I would like to introduce to you Bink Sereb Haze, born 30 oktober 2006 .
He is our very modest but also very enterprising young nebelung today caught on camera on the top of the thatched roof.
Bink Img_5113
His favorite passtime is obvious to climb and to hunt down everything moving and at night to sleep somewhere on my legs in an annoying way.

Hi Marleen,

Welcome on the forum. What a lovely photo of your Bink. It’s really nice to see what a beauty he became. (more photo’s are welcome lol! )

What is he wearing around his neck? It reminds me of a Sint Bernard dog in the Alps. Wearing a bottle with live saving booze (hahaha)drunken

Hello and Welcome Marleen.

Bink is superb ! Smile

Anke, I beleive Bink is wearing a petsafe collar as the garden is secured with petsafe fence. Some of my friends have done so for their garden and it works really well. Cats learn very easily they cannot go over a certain limit otherwise they get a little electrical jolt (adjustable in intensity) and for them collar = going outside and they cannot wait to get their collar on in the morning Smile Obviously it is easier to train a kitten than an adult but still possible.

Dear Anke,

Bink is not a silent alcoholic but is indeed wearing a petsafe collar like Laurence guessed. We have a big garden which is a cat amusement park with some old sheds, trees and shrubs, mice and birds. Unfortunately it is close to a very busy road. Due to the extend of the garden it is not possible to fence it off. So in this way we have some reassurance that the cats stay in the garden and still have a lot of freedom. And they don't seem bothered by the collar at all. The hair around the neck is a bit shorter though, so it's not advisable for showcats.

Like any system, it is not foolproof. I regularly check the system and keep the cats indoors at night, when I am away and when it's windy weather. If they chase another or a after fallen leaf, it is still possible to fly over the border because it is a psychological one. Untill now Bink never went over, he does not know the world outside the border. He is smart and very cautious and we started to train him when he was very young. He is really fond of being in the garden, in the morning before he is let out he is always miaauwing very persistantly and making us crasy.

Hello Marleen,

What a beautifull picture of Bink lying in your garden, he is pretty as his father is. I can't remember if I asked the owner of Mishutka to join. I have to check this.

Bye Kirsten

Oh, little Bink, I can remember seeing photos of him when he was a tiny baby, so cute, and he has grown up to be a handsome boy!

Bink Empty Bink 2006-2011

Post  Marleen Sat Jan 07, 2012 11:05 am

Dear friends,

I have not been here for some while and I am afraid I have the most sad update. Bink passed away on November 25. Due to a car accident he broke his pelvis. That is in most cases not a fatal infliction. It can mend for itself by rest or by operation. But in the days after the accident, Bink got sicker and sicker. His kidneys failed on him and we had to let him go.
Bink CRW_2316

Bink came to live here after Plurk suddenly died in a car accident. It had to be a bluegray cat, like Plurk. And so it became a Nebelung after an internet search. Apart from his gray color Bink looked nothing like Plurk. He immediately found a good place to live here but soon became very ill. Ullie, who is as old as he, blossomed as a beautiful lady, Bink stayed behind. Ullie always in the centre of attention as a meddlesome busybody, Bink remained quietly in the background. But when I saw him walking, I knew what was on his mind. In the house was less interaction than outside because there were others who pestered him often.
Bink IMG_4742

Outside was his kingdom. Outside, he always walked up to me in his typical walk and I was greeted by him with a soft miauw, which gave him the name “Pi”. Together we went looking for nuts under the tree or see if there were any moles to be caught that day. And then I threw him on my shoulder as if he were a silk scarf. How soft and gentle as he was, for mice and moles, he was a serial killer. He regularly took home presents for me. Several times I was awake all night by an unraveled mouse at my feet. At first he stayed nicely in the garden due to a petsafe system. But when we reshaped the garden he just was not content with it anymore and started to escape the garden. Being locked up with the others was his hell, and he was very unhappy. So with fear in our hearts, we decided to give him his freedom and hope for the best.
Bink Concentratie

He was so light and small. At night if he came to lay in my bed I could hardly feel him. All of a sudden I would realise that he was there again and when I would stroke my hand over him, I could feel his purr. Our bond was the deepest of all. His eyes could sparkle like beautiful gems if he was happy.
Bink IMG_8773

Actually, for years my cat-household revolved around Bink. My little gray, most modest bunch of fleas. He never looked like a showcat, thinner as his own tail. He was always weaker. The others cats will let you know very clearly if they needed anything, but not Bink. And I was focussed to see to his needs. For Bink we always had to make exceptions to the rules and special measures. He just had very different needs than the other cats. I will never really be able to explain this to some.

We could not outrun destiny. It has shortened his life, but we have always been convinced that Bink would never grow old. Bink has left us to catch mice in the eternal hunting grounds.

Bink was a Nebelung, a mysterious creature of the mist.
He doomed out of the mist and disappeared in the mist, leaving us behind puzzled and sad.

I too am very sorry for the loss of of your Bink. I hope he will meet my Odis von Nordegg at the Rainbow bridge. There is something special about a Nebelung.
