Good English Maya, pfffff Do you have names for them already?

That is the lovely thing of this forum. Most of us do not have english as first languish, and little mistakes reminds us of the colorful bunch we are, spread around the globe, with many differences, but sharing the love for cats, esp. Nebelung.

Some kittens do have names;
The boy of Natasha will be called Radomir (m) -- "joyous peace."
That fits with Azadeh which means; dry earth; detached, free of material things .
Bernard his girl will be called.
Sigr˙n - the explanation is a copy of Wikipedia. (Old Norse "victory rune"[1]) is a valkyrie in Norse mythology. Her story is related in Helgakvia Hundingsbana I and Helgakvia Hundingsbana II, in the Poetic Edda. The original editor annotated that she was Svßfa reborn.
The hero Helgi Hundingsbane first meets her when she leads a band of nine Valkyries:
Sigr˙n is norse like Olrun. (Michel and I will nickname her Siggy- after Ziggy Stardust of David Bowie jocolorWink )
I want to have all names of a litter the same letter. And prefer Russian names or sounds.

The others do not have names yet. But there is enough time for this.

Regards,

Anke

All our cats have nicknames

Vishhu = vismenu
Laksmi = mini muis
Aleksandr = Radha
Nisa = Schnitzel
Natasha= Bassie
Ozar = Ozzi
Pegusha = couscous

Isn't it terrible? .... all lovely names, most of them became food... hahaha even meat and I'm a veggie.
And our Laksmi, who is overweight at this moment is still called tiny mouse. Hahahhaha

So a nickname for Sigrun is not so strange.

Do you give your cats a nickname / shortname?

Thinking of names is always difficult I think Smile It should be linked also to the character, a color of another characteristic thing. Myth names are always nice I think... Used a lot with Icelandic Horses also (I have one named Tandri = fire, some charateristic)

Do all kittens have new 'blikopeners' (owners) allready? Yesterday I fell a sleep with images of kittens with blue collars Shocked Slept great Very Happy

Anke

The changing in names sounds familiar.
Snartjes name derives of Zwartje (dutch for Blackie). We first called him Othello because of his color.
But that did not work at all when you had to call him for food. His brother had a beautiful name too. He was very enterprising as a kitten so we gave him the fitting name of Gallileo but he listened better to Plurk (that is how you call somebody really antisocial). That had nothing to do with his character. Aygul is called Ullie or Oeliekroelie (kroelen are cuddles). Lola is sometimes known as Borretje Rolling Eyes, I do not know anymore how we came to that.

So I am so glad that Kirsten gave Bink a nice short fitting name which we mostly use. Although we still sometimes call him Pi, Pietje, Stinkiebinkie, Tinkerbell. Hakim is warned not to get used to much to his name. It will probably evolve in to something completely different. So much for the effort you breeders put in finding very nice, lovely, prosaic names. Wink

Anke, if you would like to find more Nordic names I could ask my niece. She studies Norwegian, is a poet and is crazy about cats. All in exchange for some cuddles with your kittens I guess.

Here are some photos of this week. The kittens are without necklace now but with a bit of color in their ears.

Most the time I use the internet to find Russian Names. Bernard uses Nordic names. I never asked how he finds his lovely names. He might have a big book.
@ Valentina; When I can't find a good name. I'll ask you. Thanks for your friendly offer.
@ Marleen. Who is Hakeem? Sounds like you found yourself another kitten?
@ Maya; I do think all have new friends to be. But like with everything in live....... things can change. (Niets verandert meer dan de mens en het weer geek ).

Good to hear they all have a home Wink This morning we talked (again Neutral) about a friend for Enzo...

Oeps see you placed also new pics of the kids of Natasha...

I love to give my Nebelung names of the legend of the Rhine. When this is not what I want, I look for characters of JRR Tolkien.

Here are some new photos of the kittens of Pegusha. All turned out to be very lovely but shorthaired. (They had a 50%/50% chance to have short/ longhair because Pegusaha is longhaired and Petr is a variant). The kitten at the last photo has the longest coat. Laughing Still short....
They are losing their kitten coat at the moment, and although their coat is not long I like their coats a lot.
