Mundikat show 9th of december
Today we went with Petr to a Mundikat show which is FIFe affiliated. Petr is a RUS a var stud cat.
I'm still a little bit surprised about the judge comments:
Petr doesn't look like a Russian cat .... that was her comment, so he got a very good (which is really bad in my opinion).
- His fur is too long
- his nose is not good, it is not linear (I know this is the weekest thing about his appearce)
- his head is to round, and so are his eyes > yes he is half english so, yes his head is thicker
- colouring of his eyes is good, but I think this could be better
- his body appearence is very good, gracieus and beautiful
- good thick coat, but not double layered ...
- ears could be more on top of the head, but its ok.
- very pretty whisker pads.
- jaw good
As for for the negative comments, the nose I agree, indeed the coat is longer but I got comments from other russian blue breeders that were suprised about the negative comments from the judge.
His head is definitely not round, but I think as his coat is longer, it is also longer near the head, it looks round be she didn't move the hair backwards to check. And the eyes, not really oval but not round either.
I wonder if I didn't told her I'am a nebelung breeder that she noticed he is or is not a russian .... never go to a FIFe show again only as a visitor ...
Petr was really stressed and didn't like it at all, so for him it was the first and his last show.
First have to figure out how to place a picture her, so I sent this message first. I can't get it bigger ...

A fife show
The FIFE standard is so different of the Indepenent one. He is so lovely and so English. It's a shame you did't take him to an FNK show. They would have seen his merits!! It would have made you feel much better!!

But I do hope you have had a nice day with the other (russian blue)breeders.
I did went to a Fife show once with Zadorinka. It went good, but like you said.... I did not tell the judge that she is a variant.

He looks FINE!! I think you just came across a nasty tempered judge (we have a few ourselves over here,
remember???--LOL). I would say his face is a bit rounder due to stud jowls. His eyecolor looks to be a lighter green, but the standards don't call for a dark green, they say the greener the better, but they have to just be green, and his eyes are green. His coat looks nice and plush and his earset looks fine.
Just a judge taking his/her bad day out on your cat, ignore those judges, they should find something
else to do with their time IMO if they have to be so nasty and negative!

Hi Vicki,
I had a good conversation with the judge. She is very straightforward and she knew he was a variant. For her blacks, whites and variants are not recognized. The things she did find postive were good to hear, and confirmed my thoughts.
